2024 Camp Audition Materials
Dear Center Stage Brass Campers,
We are delighted that you will be joining us for the 6th annual Center Stage Brass Summer Camp! June will be here before we know it!
Each camper will be placed in a small chamber ensemble of five to eight people and will prepare one or two pieces with that ensemble to perform in the camp recital on Friday, June 28th.
We want you to have fun playing in a chamber ensemble, and it’s most fun to play in a group of musicians who play at a similar level to your own. Chamber music is not nearly as fulfilling when you feel bored because the music is too easy or overwhelmed because the music is too challenging!
In order to find the ensemble that fits you best, you will need to submit a recorded audition to centerstagebrasscamp@gmail.com with “Your Name - Your Instrument - 2024 Camp Audition Recordings” in the subject line. The recordings are due on Friday, June 21st at 11:59 pm.
The audition consists of 3 parts:
Chromatic scale - Pick the range and the tempo that best showcase your technique and sound.
Scales - Concert Eb Major and Concert Bb Major - Pick the range and tempo that best showcase your technique and sound.
Etude(s) - There are three levels of difficulty for the etudes. Select the level you feel the most comfortable submitting.
Level 1: Submit Etude 1
Level 2: Submit Etudes 1 and 2
Level 3: Submit Etudes 1, 2, and 3
You may send your recording in one file or in separate files for each component. Editing (splicing, manipulating pitch, etc.) is not permitted. If we detect any signs of editing in an audition submission, we reserve the right to ask you to submit it again.
